Finnish Tech in LA

A conversation about the decarbonization of Los Angeles.

Last week, DCR was honored to be invited to be part of a discussion, between a Finnish Smart City business and research delegation and the City of LA, to talk about opportunities to decarbonize Los Angeles. The event took place at the Finnish Consulate in Los Angeles.

In the words of the Finnish delegation, an important aim of their visit was to “introduce Finnish solutions that decarbonize cities, focusing on energy, the electrification of transit, green construction and smart building management, and lastly digitalization to combine and leverage data for improving city services and planning.”

Ending the 3-day schedule of events, DCR Partner, David Figueroa together with LA Lights Executive Director and GM Miguel Sangalang spoke in a panel discussion about:

1. The status and achievements of Los Angeles towards being a Smart City.

2. The vision of how Los Angeles can improve its efficiency both sustainably and equitably.

3. How improved transportation services contribute to the city’s decarbonization goals.

We shared our experience working with Metro and LA DOT and how we see public transit, active transportation and safe mobility as critical for Los Angeles towards a more sustainable future.
